While We Were On Hiatus...

A sure lot happened while the blog was on hiatus, huh?

I guess one of the big things people seemed to talk over and over in the month of September, was the Kanye West thing at the MTV Video Music Awards. Really, no one should be surprised given the mountain-size ego the man has. What's funny is while he might have had a point about Beyonce's music video for the song "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," it had nothing on what the TV show "Glee" did with the song. See the video below.

And speaking of the TV show, how much of a pleasant surprise has the show been? I remember catching the preview episode back in May and even then I had interest with it and like with anything that actually has some effort put into it's production, you had to be concerned if "Glee" would survive a week. It's hard enough for any television show that has actual substance to survive in this era of "reality television." It literally is a laundry list of how many good televisions shows never got their proper chance, all the while for some ungodly reason CBS still thinks "Two & A Half Men," is something people want to see. That being said, if you haven't joined on the bandwagon for "Glee," you really should because it is entertaining and from a personal opinion about the show, if it were around during my high school days, it might've motivated me to join my school's glee club.

If you've followed the blog from the start, you'll know that I am a fan of the show "Sons Of Anarchy," so there's no need to go into detail about the show. The second season started off in September and there are no signs of a sophomore slump for what can be said in one point of view, Hamlet meets biker gangs. It's been hyped for a while and fans have been buzzing since it was announced, but the addition of Henry Rollins has kicked the intensity to great levels. Creator Kurt Sutter has easily stepped in and filled in the void that great shows like "The Sopranos," "Deadwood," "The Wire," and "The Shield" once claimed a stake in.

Another show I've heard a lot of buzz about and decided to check out to see if it was warranted is "True Blood." I recently finished the first season and I have to say that the buzz around it is worth it. Anna Paquin has come a long way from flying a bunch of Canadian Geese around with the help of The Dude, and it's all for the better. Unlike that other vampire thing that seems to be gripping people in an unexplainable fashion, this story about vampires is actually entertaining. Not to mention it confirms what we know about The South in that if it's not football season, all there's to do is drink alcohol, eat, fornicate and live with creatures of the night.

Aside from those two shows, there is still the usual staple of comedy in the form of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia," which to me is the funniest show on TV today, though "Glee" is hilarious in it's own witty way. I haven't bothered with any of the new shows for this season's offering because their premises weren't all that appealing.

With the return of the blog yesterday, I wanted to handle it pretty much as a reboot and thought there should be something special to commemorate the return. So over the upcoming days, you will see something special coming to Critiqulous.

Interviews.

With a little luck, I've been able to secure some interviews with people in various fields of entertainment. A radio DJ, a stage actor/playwriter and a singer/model/actress are just some of people being featured. I hope that these interviews will be entertaining and be something refreshing and hopefully a regular feature on Critiqulous.
