Cherub

The Grizzled Veterans Ass-Kicking Club

I just came across this trailer. It's pretty amazing what you just might find when you type in "movie trailers" into YouTube. I have no idea about the graphic novel that this film is adapted from and I'm sure the loyalists to said graphic novel are skeptical about this movie because "they're bound to get something wrong." However, it's impossible to look at the cast and it's premise and not think, "This could be a lot of fun to watch." Yeah, you can gripe all you want about how the trailer ends with the idea that somehow, John Malkovich can stop a rocket-propelled grenade with a single bullet from what looks like a .37 magnum, but you try telling that to John Malkovich. The man made a gun from plastic resin, so who are we to say he couldn't stop a RPG with a single bullet?

Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and "The Queen" Helen Mirren. Now that is a pretty loaded cast across any sort of film, and it's in this that they are former CIA agents serving up some good old fashion revenge justice. What's not to like about it? It is also refreshing to see what appears to be Karl Urban not playing the typical Eastern European villain that you normally would see him in. Even that in itself is kind of funny being that he is from New Zealand. Throw in Mary Louise Parker and because seeing him in general is adorable, Ernest Borgnine as the elder statesman to the grizzled veterans and well, you now have my interest.

Oh and there's Morgan Freeman's wicked coat and he lives out the American Dream by punching Richard Dreyfus in the face.

"Red" opens in theaters on October 15.
