I already wrote about The Hundred Days and their single "Sex U," but now I have their debut album, "Really?" The band's name comes from the members confining themselves into a house for a hundred days and nights until they got the sound they were looking for. A little bit of Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Interpol, and Echo & The Bunnymen result in a catchy number from this San Francisco band. Those who like their rock to get them up and moving should check out this album, says the lead singer Jonathan Smith:
"Over time, we have come to favor live shows where people are dancing. Hence we seem to be moving in a more dance-able direction in the studio, as well."And looking at some videos of them in concert, dancing and high energy are definitely themes to their performances. Check out this concert footage of the band as they play "Sex U."

"SILVER & GOLD"
Of all the songs on the album that you want to just get up and dance to (and there's a few of them on the album) I can imagine this track drawing the most energy. The first minute of the song has this great build up and goes into a great guitar track. And that bass track is just a killer compliment. Those who are Interpol fans must check this one out.
"HEY"
Lead vocalist Jonathan Smith channeling his inner Robert Smith (The Cure - look it up folks) results in something that's like an open letter to a loved one. Where most of the album has the sound that you can dance to and party, this song is a change of pace which results in my favorite song on the album. One that could find it's way into my songs of the year discussion. Check it out.
As a bonus, check out a video of them performing the same song in concert.
There's enough on the album where you'll want to dance and that's natural. However it's the inclusion of songs like "Hey" with the subdued tone that round out the album. The one hundred days and nights spent on crafting their sound results in a good debut.
