This Is Simon Spire

From New Zealand, by way of  New York City is Simon Spire and this is his new song, "Liberate Your Love." Spire says of the song,“Liberate Your Love is about the recognition of our potential and the boldness of claiming it. But it also deals with the frustration that comes with acknowledging our continual denial of that – our continual failure to embrace it. It’s about taking the risk of freeing ourselves from the burden of our conditioning.” The song can be something of a personal motto for Spire as well as a message we can all subscribe to. I know for me, why I continue to write here is because if it allows me to discover new music and   attending press events, then why can't I do bigger and better things? So for as much as this song is a good pop-rock melody, it throws a message to me that sticks. For Spire during the pursuit of a music career, life revolved around getting economics and finance degrees, but it wasn't what he really wanted to do, much less constitute as to what it means to live. Now music is his full time devotion and it's a yet-to-blossom music career for Spire. However there definitely is potential for what he can do as a singer/songwriter. Spire's sound has been likened to Sufjan Stevens and Ryan Adams. Quite good company to be associated with. His latest album, Four-Letter Words is already out in his native New Zealand, and will see a stateside release in February 2012. While 2011 is nowhere near being over, I have a feeling that Simon Spire will be part of the end of the year discussion for 2012, as well as this song claiming a spot among one of my favorites for this year. Below is the video for "Liberate Your Love."
